The Glenview Outreach "GO" Bus provides transportation to and from Glenview's 10:30 a. m. Sunday service at no charge. Members of the congregation and visitors are welcome to reserve a ride on the bus every week or as needed. An effort will be made to include everyone living within a reasonable travel time from the other passengers and Glenview.
When does the GO Bus run?
Plans are to start on January 9, 2011 and run until mid-. June 2011. The continuation of the GO Bus after this time will depend on several factors, including ridership, volunteer participation and funding. Once a route has been developed, regular passengers will be given an approximate pick up time between 9:00 a. m. and 10:15 a. m.
How do I reserve a ride?
You must call the Church Office at 416-488-1156 bt Thursday at 4:00 p. m. to request a ride that Sunday.
What if I change my mind or am unable to attend church after reserving a ride?
As soon as your plans change, you should call the bus monitor for the week. The Church Office staff will give you the name and telephone number of the bus monitor for the week when you reserve your ride.
Could I ride one way only to or from Glenview?
If you only need a ride to Glenview, please inform the bus monitor and driver on Sunday when you are picked up that you will not need a ride home. If you only need a ride home from Glenview, please inform the Church Office staff when you call them to reserve a ride.
Do I have to take the GO Bus every week?
No, you may request a ride any week that the GO Bus operates and you are planning to attend the service.
Who drives the GO Bus?
On the Go Transportation Services owns and operates the 20-seat school buses with licensed and insured drivers. The com- pany provides transportation to and from several private schools and camps in north Toronto and across the Greater Toronto Area.
Will the GO Bus run if the weather is bad?
The On the Go Transportation driver will notify the bus monitor for the week as soon as possible if the bus is not able to run that week. The bus monitor or bus driver will call you to let you know if the GO Bus will not run that week.
Who organizes the GO Bus?
Members of the Pastoral Care Ministry Team coordinate this ministry. The Church Office staff keep track of reservations every week. Volunteer bus monitors from the congregation accompany the driver on the pick up route.
How can I become a bus monitor?
Please contact the Church Office. Training will be provided.
Who pays for the GO Bus?
Session has approved funding for the Winter/Spring 2011 sea- son. Donations specifically sup- porting the GO Bus would be very much appreciated, and can be made on your Glenview offering envelope.
